Over the past 4 years, the brain behind Gypsy Disco has been foraging and collecting bands from around the world, seeking to revive traditional Gypsy, Klezmer & Balkan brass music. A style of music commonly found at weddings and celebrations practiced and kept alive by Roma, Slavic and Jewish communities. The bands we have chosen that embody this renaissance inject the music with a fresh and explosive sound, found on dance floors from Brighton to New York.
Each track has been carefully chosen to showcase the extraordinary and diverse range of the bands. In this way not only does it broaden the repertoire of this style but also gives a nod to long admired pioneers such as Fanfare Ciocărlia, Taraf De Haidouks & Esma Redzepova.
